Beatrice Valentine Amrhein was born Wassy, Francia nel 1969. Vive tra Parigi e New York.
Beatrice Valentine Amrhein’s interests are based on the “Body and the systems of the body”, and she expresses them through Video, photography, performances, and instillations. The sculpture “VIDEO lustre”, which is the title of her installation, is a combination of video, photographic images, painting, and sculpture.
It has the look of a huge chandelier made up of 25 cell phones hanging from their charge-battery cords. With this work the artist intends to highlight her body in its every aspect. In fact, on each cell-phone screen there appear images of details of her body: her lips, eyes, bodily extremities. Hers is an attempt to underline the, by now, inseparable union between humanity and technology. From the video the artist then obtains photographic images: fragments that go to make up the artist’s identity.
