The artist returns to Italy with an unprecedented series realised with a special carving technique, dedicated to the fleeting nature of time.
The exhibition, titled Playing with Shadows, will take place in Verona from 24 September 2022 in one of the gallery rooms with a selection of 7 works composed
of cut and superimposed layers of tracing paper and 5 coloured C-prints. With this series of works, Masuyama reinterprets the theme of the ‘tempus fugit’, which is very dear to him, having as his subjects flowers and their caducity. The shadows of magnolias, dahlias, tulips, peonies and lilies are drawn day after day on tracing paper, to be
then skilfully and patiently cut out in every detail and presented in a chronological sequence recording their life cycle until their withering.
