Antonio Marchetti Lamera’s research exclusively consists of painting and drawing, which are both highly effective and precise methods to synthesize and recompose the images from the artist’s extensive photographic archive. His painting is characterized by the use of a minimalist palette and an extreme liquidity of the sign, poetic and evocative at the same time.
In these works the artist seems to focus on that moment “in which the objects lose the consistency of shadow that identifies them during the night and gradually regain color, crossing an uncertain limbo, barely touched, blown by light”. His research starts from the fascination of the city of Istanbul, where intercultural dialogue gives form and character to a millenary architecture. And it is above all the relationship with the sea that links the Turkish metropolis to Polignano, where Marchetti has already exhibited in 2021, in a connection that feeds the imagination of a journey into history and identity.
