Felicitazioni! CCCP – Fedeli alla linea 1984 – 2024, the exhibition that celebrates 40 years since the release of the first EP “Ortodossia” of the CCCP and that is articulated in a long journey in the meanders of the Chiostri di San Pietro in Reggio Emilia, exhibits objects, images, sounds, texts, clothes, sets coming directly from the drawers of the archive of Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Massimo Zamboni, Annarella Giudici and Danilo Fatur.
With the four founders of the band, curators of the exhibition, four other contemporary artists have entered into dialogue that have conceived as many site-specific works: Arthur Duff, Stefano Roveda, Roberto Pugliese and Luca Prandini.
Under the guidance of Stefania Vasques, who curated the exhibition, and thanks to the lights of Pasquale Mari with Gianni Bertoli, the four artists have managed to elaborate concepts and highlights of the history of the group by creating immersive installations with a strong visual impact.
To close the exhibition path, in the last room, is the installation of Arthur Duff, Fedeli alla Lira. The “Insults Room”, the one where the various forms of contestation of which the CCCP were recipients for having signed a recording contract with Virgin, provided an ideal starting point. Duff pays tribute to their enduring heritage in a contemporary dialogue with them. A concept made possible through the provocative act of insults, traditionally conceived to offend and be rude, but that take on a new dimension when they are addressed to individuals who transform such affronts into art. It becomes a challenging task to deliberately offend those who use what is thrown at them as an artistic medium. Thus, Faithful to the Lyre has become the perfect means to push the audience to contemplate this transformative process, in which the offensive turns into a form of beauty and Duff does so through three imposing neon elements suspended from the ceiling by chains, that loom over passers-by.
