The exhibition project curated by Leonardo Regano opens up the art collections of the Municipality of Pergola to a comparison with contemporary art and its expressive languages. The exhibition, the central nucleus of the project “Blu il Colore della Cuccagna” presented in the Pesaro 2024 Dossier – Capitale italiana della Cultura and implemented by Casa Sponge, engages in dialogue the research of masters and young talents of the current artistic scene on the theme of blue and gold. These elements mark the local artistic heritage in reference to the cultivation and processing of Isatis tinctoria, otherwise known as woad, and to the presence in the museum collections of the group of Bronzi Dorati, the only known example of Roman bronze sculpture group in gilded bronze that has come down to us.
The art collections of the Marche town have been the starting point for a comparison, sometimes direct, sometimes mediated, with the work of selected artists, whose works bear witness to a shared creative feeling that transcends temporal and geographical boundaries.
The large central courtyard of the Ex Convento di San Giacomo hosts the heart of the exhibition path, articulated in a broad comparison between the works, the beginning of which is ideally given by Luigi Carboni‘s artwork “Oro Ossidazione” (1991).
