Studio la Città‘s participation at the 19th edition of ArtVerona has seen the presence of an institutional stand in hall 12, and in the exhibition area INNOVA, a second stand la città projects for installations and young artists. In this space some works of the American artist Tracey Snelling were presented.
His work Flaghouse Room #2 (2016) has caught the eye of Marval Collection, which decided to award Snelling with the prestigious Marval Collection Award, that supports the contemporary art system through an intense program of acquisitions.
The jury, composed by the collectors Marco Curina and Valeria Schäfer, explained the reasons for the choice as follows: “this year for ArtVerona we decided to award an American artist who combines cinema, photography and Internet images by mixing everything together, representing the environments of those who live them daily. The work of this American artist represents a voyeuristic look on the present of our lives and the private dimension of our existence. His architecture tells the story of interiors spaces, the objects, the transfiguring solitude of the contemporary individual. Each of his works creates a human experience as well as aesthetic”.
