Architetture oblique is the solo show of Vincenzo Castella on display at Triennale Milano until January 7th, 2024. The exhibition curated by Lorenza Bravetta – curator for photography, cinema and new media at Triennale Milano – presents two themes investigated by Castella: cities and urban gardens.
The city has always been one of Castella favourite subjects: they are large-format photographs where the cities are mostly seen from above and in the distance. Emblematic #1 Milan, #2 Milan, #3 Milan 2014 set up as a majestic triptych that looks on the wall in front of the giant six ‘portraits’ of exotic plants in the botanical gardens; an anthropized nature in which the viewer’s gaze is absorbed by the natural elements.
Particularly significant is the large installation of original contact printed photographs that Castella made in the eighties dedicated to the construction site of the San Siro stadium.
Videos, smaller format photographs and contact samples complete the exhibition.
