Alberto Garutti. A catalogue by Studio Celant.
This volume provides a significant overview of the work of Alberto Garutti, an artist renowned for his innovative approach to public and site-specific art. Conceived by Germano Celant and curated by Studio Celant in collaboration with Studio Alberto Garutti, the book delves into the experimental nature of the artist’s language, which reconsiders the role of the viewer and rejects traditional monumentality. Instead, it promotes a form of art that integrates discreetly and respectfully with its surroundings, avoiding invasive interventions.
The editorial project was made possible with the support of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, as part of the Italian Council program (12th edition, 2023), which aims to promote Italian contemporary art internationally.
The volume is published in two editions, in Italian by a+mbookstore in Milan and in English by Hatje Cantz in Berlin, and includes critical texts by Eva Fabbris, Alberto Garutti, and Antonella Soldaini. Spanning 620 pages, it offers an in-depth exploration of Garutti’s works and the key concepts he has developed.
