DAVID SIMPSON, Wall toys for adults

David Simpson was born in Pasadena in 1928, lives and works in Berkeley, California.
In a brief but significant moment of his long activity, David Simpson has created works apparently far from his surfaces so silent and mysterious: he called them “Wall Toys for Adults”, wall toys for adults, as if they were divertissements with some vague sexual allusion. In fact, we could read them as a reflection on art and the meaning it acquires in the contemporary world: a game for adults, the object of the whim of collectors.
