DODO JIN MING
Hallucinations, 1996
Dodo Jin Ming (China, 1955) lives and works in New York.
Ming was for many years a professional concert violinist. But after visiting an exhibition by Joseph Beuys in 1992, she was so overwhelmed that she abandoned the violin and became a self-taught photographer. Dodo Jin Ming pursues nature, wild or tamed, in its large viscerally captivating images. In richly toned negative prints, he showed masses of sunflowers and lotus flowers dying in an abstract chaotic splendor.
