GIORGIO GRIFFA

The small 1974 opera by Giorgio Griffa (1936) has all the identifying traits of the artist’s style, protagonist – together with Carlo Battaglia and Rodolfo Aricò and Claudio Verna – in a 1973 group show at the Studio la Città significantly titled “Io non rappresento nulla, io dipingo”. Curated by Maurizio Fagiolo dall’Arco, it was one of the first exhibitions of the so-called Analytical Painting; this small linen canvas refers to that artistic season, which today is experiencing a real rediscovery of criticism and market.
