IGINO LEGNAGHI, Cartoline agli amici
Igino Legnaghi was born in 1936 in Verona, where he lives and works.
At a young age he learned metalworking tecniques in the laboratory of his father,a silversmith and engraver. Around the mid-sixties he starts with a series of sculptures in enameled iron and stainless steel consisting of geometric modules – cubes, lozenges, rods, tops, folded sheet metal as stairs – painted yellow, red and black with industrial paints. Starting in 1967, the artist created a series of works dominated by three fundamental formal elements – the piano, the cube and the zigzag ribbon – using precious materials.
