IZIMA KAORU

Born in 1954 in Kyoto, Japanese photographer Izima Kaoru has exhibited his artistic work since the late 1970s in various international exhibitions and museums. He was made famous by his photo shoot “Landscape with a Corpse”, on which he worked between 1993 and 2008.
In “Landscapes with a corpse” Kaoru collected photos of Japanese divas and models and European actresses, dressed in a picturesque way, in eternal youth and in clothes of Prada, Gucci or Dior. Thus the visual references of the artist range from traditional Japanese color woodcut to pop art, the result is always that of melancholy beauty and sadness.
