JACOB HASHIMOTO
Silence still governs our consciousness
Jacob Hashimoto was born in 1973 in Greeley, U.S.A. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
The Japanese-born artist draws on his ethnic origins through his work, redefining screen painting in Japan by assembling small paper kites that he then layers into larger compositions. The individual components themselves are abstract, but when arranged together, they translate into graphic images composed of groups of patterns, stripes, and waves of color, creating pictorial images that suggest representations of panoramas, landscapes, scrolling video games, or board games.
