KEVORK MOURAD
The Lost King, Memory Gates series, 2021

Kevork Mourad (Qamishli, Syria, 1970) of Armenian origin, received his Master of Fine Arts from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts in Armenia, and now lives and works in New York.
His origins play a fundamental role in his poetry, which is intimately linked to the beauty as well as the tragedy, of those places steeped in culture but also devastated by centuries of war. In his works, whether they are large-scale installations, works on textiles painted with ink, monotypes, drawings on paper or acrylics on canvas, strike the viewer, besides with their incredible painting technique, because of the immersion in a world that no longer exists.

This artwork was exhibited at the exhibition Ties that bind us at Studio la Città in 2021.
