Lawrence Carroll (Melbourne, 26 October 1954 – 21 May 2019).
Carroll’s work is neither assembly nor installation in the usual way to contemporary artistic production: wood, canvas, oil and wax color serve today as in past centuries to express physically with the complexity of shapes and colors a humanity deep and not aggressive. The tonality of the paintings is apparently uniform, almost monotonous and monochord like days that follow each other all the same. The colour is, by choice, almost a non-color, obtained with successive layers until the background, often made up of striped fabrics, becomes visible only partially.
