Stuart Arends (Waterloo, Iowa, 1950) lives and works in Willard, New Mexico.
Stuart Arends likes to work with different materials and his works on paper can hardly be classified as two-dimensional. The artist treats spaces not in a narrative or descriptive way, but tries to capture their essence.
In this work, Arends uses watercolour, ink and pencil on paper to leave a tangible mark of himself, recalling and paying homage to gestural art through the use of imprints, as images commonly used in the art of that period.

The work was exhibited in the exhibition Senza tema. Paper at Studio the City in 2018.
