Subodh Gupta

A.M.: Let’s talk about Subodh Gupta, one of the internationally best-known contemporary Indian artists.
H.d.F.: In fact, after having left the Indian scene, he began to work with the Jack Sheinman Gallery in New York where he had a great success. In 2005, at MCA in Chicago, I saw Universal Experience: Art, Life and the Tourist’s Eye, curated by Francesco Bonami. A beautiful show in which there was a room full of shining pans.

In Palazzo Barbò there will be exhibited his Dubai to Mumbai 2006-08, a brass cart with aluminium luggage, part of a group of works exhibited for the first time in Basel in 2006.
This too is a work that is concerned with the shifts and migrations of the Indian people.
(Conversation between Angela Madesani and Hélène de Franchis in Un racconto in sei stanze, 2016, Palazzo Barbò)
